On January 16, 2015, the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis filed for Chapter 11 Reorganization (Reorganization) under the bankruptcy code. On May 31, 2018, the Archdiocese reached an agreement with abuse survivors, all parishes and related Catholic entities. Archbishop Bernard Hebda and Tom Abood, chair of the Archdiocesan Finance Council, addressed the media during a news conference. The Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis’ Chapter 11 bankruptcy case was formally closed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court December 21, 2018, three months after a $210 million plan for Reorganization was approved by U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Robert Kressel September 25, 2018.
